Founding Vision and Evolution

GeoStabilization International has a rich history that spans over two decades, marked by innovation, dedication, and a commitment to providing cutting-edge geohazard mitigation solutions. It all began with the vision of two industry veterans, Bob Barrett and Al Ruckman, who brought together their extensive experience in public sector transportation and geotechnical research to address the challenges posed by geohazards.

Robert Barrett, a professional geologist, and Al Ruckman, a professional engineer, had each spent over 30 years in their respective fields, gaining international recognition for their expertise in geotechnical research, design, construction, and maintenance. Inspired by their research breakthrough, the Soil Nail Launcher, they co-founded Soil Nail Launcher, Inc. in 2002, focusing on landslide remediation.

In 2008, the next generation took the helm as Colby Barrett and Tim Ruckman assumed leadership roles within the company. Under their guidance, Soil Nail Launcher, Inc. evolved into GeoStabilization International, reflecting its broader scope and commitment to providing innovative geohazard mitigation solutions.

In 2022, GeoStabilization International welcomed Dominic Ivankovich as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Colby Barrett. Dominic brought nearly twenty years of experience from leading global businesses in essential industries, along with a strong track record of driving growth and market share through client satisfaction, innovation, and strategic acquisitions.

Under Dominic's leadership, GeoStabilization International continued its mission of providing cutting-edge, sustainable solutions for geohazard mitigation. With a focus on maintaining the company's culture of passion, dedication, and innovation, Dominic aimed to further advance infrastructure improvements and protect communities from the dangers of geohazards.

GeoStabilization International's success over the past 20 years has been marked by its commitment to innovation and service excellence. With over 6,000 unique solutions implemented and a team of more than 600 professionals, the company has become a leader in geohazard mitigation across North America.

Acquisition of Access Limited Construction

In 2023, GeoStabilization International further expanded its capabilities through the acquisition of Access Limited Construction, a leading firm specializing in rockfall mitigation. This strategic move allowed GeoStabilization to enhance its suite of services and geographical reach, better protecting communities and infrastructure against geohazards.
