What is Soil Nailing?
Soil nailing is a top-down earth retention method that reinforces slopes and excavation faces with closely spaced steel bars, called soil nails, drilled or launched into the ground and grouted in place. A shotcrete or wire mesh facing ties the nails together at the surface, creating a stable wall without the deep excavation and setback a concrete retaining wall requires — a real advantage on Dallas's tight urban lots and highway corridors, where walls and cut slopes often have to go up fast without disrupting traffic or neighboring property.
