GeoStabilization International Expands Mountain West Capabilities with Acquisition of Thorcon Shotcrete and Shoring
Leading geohazard mitigation specialist adds 40-year shotcrete and shoring expert to its national platform
DENVER, CO — June 3, 2026 — GeoStabilization International (GSI), North America's leading specialist in geohazard mitigation and emergency slope stabilization, today announced the acquisition of Thorcon Shotcrete and Shoring LLC, a premier shotcrete, shoring, and slope stabilization contractor headquartered in Littleton, Colorado.
Bringing more than 40 years of experience, Thorcon has built a strong reputation for design-build excellence across Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Utah, Texas, Nevada, North Carolina, New Mexico and Wyoming delivering complex geotechnical solutions for clients ranging from state departments of transportation to commercial general contractors and private owners. Thorcon's technical capabilities include structural and architectural shotcrete and gunite applications, micropiles, rock bolts, ground anchors, slope stabilization, deep foundations and excavation shoring — work that demands precision, deep field expertise, and an unwavering commitment to safety.
Mike Klemp, who has led Thorcon for decades, will continue with the company in a leadership capacity, bringing his team and relationships into the GSI platform.
"Thorcon represents exactly the kind of company we look to partner with — technically excellent, safety-focused, and deeply trusted by the clients they serve. Mike and his team have built something exceptional over 40 years. Joining forces with GSI gives them access to greater resources, engineering depth, and operational capacity — and gives our clients access to one of the best shotcrete and shoring teams in the Mountain West."
— Dominic Ivankovich, CEO, GeoStabilization International
"I have spent my career building a company I am proud of, and I would not have taken this step if I did not believe it was the right one for our team and our clients. GSI shares our values — do the work right, keep people safe, and stand behind what you build. The resources and network they bring make us better, and our clients will feel that."
— Mike Klemp, Founder and Leader, Thorcon Shotcrete and Shoring
The acquisition strengthens GSI's existing geotechnical capabilities in the Mountain West and Southwest, adding specialized shotcrete expertise to GSI's national platform of slope stabilization, landslide repair, rockfall mitigation, grouting, and foundation construction services. Thorcon's established presence in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Utah, Texas, Nevada, North Carolina, New Mexico and Wyoming makes this a strategically complementary addition to the platform.
Thorcon will continue operating under its current name during the transition period, with full integration into GeoStabilization International to follow.
