Proving Safety Excellence

GSI is 3.5 times safer than the industry average over the past five years. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to creating a safe work environment for every employee and contractor. Safety is built into every process, from planning to execution, ensuring that projects are completed with minimal risk.

Rockfall Mitigation

Our Motor Vehicle Incident Rate (MVIR) places GSI in the top 1% for safety performance according to Transport Canada. Careful driver training, regular vehicle maintenance, and adherence to strict operational protocols help keep our teams safe on the road. This recognition proves our dedication to protecting both our employees and the communities in which we operate.

Over the past five years, GSI has maintained very low injury and lost time rates. These consistently low rates reflect a proactive approach to safety, including ongoing training, site assessments, and risk mitigation strategies. Our focus is on preventing incidents before they happen, rather than reacting after the fact.

More than 9,000 projects have been completed in North America, emphasizing the company’s extensive experience and commitment to safety. This vast experience allows us to anticipate challenges, implement best practices, and maintain safety standards across diverse project sites. Each project reinforces our culture of safety, ensuring every team member goes home safely at the end of the day.

Training and Certification You Can TrustSafety Training

Our crews are certified, highly trained, and always improving. Every GeoStabilization International® team member completes rigorous safety training, including OSHA 10, MSHA, SPRAT, and PCIA rope access, plus ongoing development through daily toolbox talks, regular sessions, and our annual Safety Summit. With certified equipment operators, CPR and first aid training, and specialized geohazard safety programs, our people are prepared to work safely, efficiently, and to the highest industry standards on every project.

Strength in EMR

GSI’s Experience Modification Rate (EMR) has consistently remained well below the industry average over the past five years. This strong record is not just a statistic, it is a reflection of our commitment to ensuring every project is executed with safety at the forefront.

Spider Excavator DrillingA consistently low EMR demonstrates that our crews are highly trained, disciplined, and prepared to deliver results in some of the most challenging environments. It signals to our clients and partners that we maintain safer job sites, reduce risks, and keep projects moving without unnecessary delays. It also reinforces the trust of our employees and their families, knowing that every effort is made to ensure they return home safely.

For us, EMR is more than a benchmark. It is proof that our systems, training, and culture are working together to create an environment where safety is not compromised. Maintaining strong safety records shows that our dedication to protecting people and communities is making a measurable difference year after year.

Award-Winning Safety Performance

Our commitment to safety has been recognized time and again by leading industry organizations. GeoStabilization International® has earned the ADSC Safety Award multiple times, a highly competitive honor that requires companies to demonstrate rigorous safety records, comprehensive training programs, and proactive risk management. These achievements are not just milestones. They are proof that our culture of safety is lived out on every project and every job site.
