Overview:

The Casing Driller (Deep Foundation and Tie Back Driller) is an essential member of the frontline team and will be responsible for drilling holes, monitoring their condition, and leading crews in the operation and care of drilling equipment. As a Driller, you will play a crucial role in achieving company goals, ensuring respect for company property, and maintaining a high standard of reliability, punctuality, and work ethic. This position requires working outdoors year-round—sometimes in extreme conditions—and strenuous physical labor.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for essential maintenance tasks, including greasing, to ensure optimal functionality of drilling equipment.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration within the team and communicate maintenance requirements.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of drill upkeep and preventive maintenance procedures to enhance equipment longevity and ensure equipment cleanliness.
  • Ability to fill out precise drill logs and maintain accurate as-builts for comprehensive project documentation.
  • Maintain regular communication and interaction with Superintendents to provide updates and address any concerns.
  • Ability to work in loud environments and maintain all required safety PPE.
  • Up to 100% travel supporting projects across the U.S.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of geotechnical drilling experience
  • Possess deep knowledge of different types of geotechnical tools and drilling techniques:
    • Casing/Tie Back Drilling OR
    • Rock Drilling experience (Comacchio, Klemm, Casagrande and Fraste drills)
  • Maintain drills for optimal functionality, and work with teammates to understand their maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain drill logs, as-builts, and other project documentation accurately.
  • At least one year of traveling construction labor experience.
  • At least one year of working outside in all conditions.
  • Ability to understand and meet daily production targets.
  • A history of problem solving; the ability to grasp a problem, see a solution, and do whatever it takes to get the problem solved.
  • A history of complying with construction crew safety principles and tools.
  • Ability to be on time, all the time, every time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid CDL is preferred
  • Managerial experience is preferred

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  

  • Climates vary in degrees, in tropical to desert environments.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate and hearing protection is often required.
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
  • Heavy lifting (50lbs+) of construction materials on the job site.

Compensation

  • Final hourly rate is based on your experience. In general, our pay scale increases for:
    • More years of experience and technical expertise with the tools and technologies in drilling.
    • Ability to drive (CMV or CDL)
    • Experience or certifications for heavy equipment operations (skid steer, forklift, Bobcat, Scissor lift, or CDL vehicles.)
    • Experience with shotcrete or grouting pumps on the job.
    • Experience directing teams, managing customer interactions, or managing projects.
  • All positions earn overtime
