This past February, GeoStabilization provided several GeoHazard Mitigation Workshops across Kentucky, North Carolina, and Virginia. In the 1970s, a massive rockslide buried Interstate 81 in Montgomery County, VA while it was being constructed. The mountain of debris took months to clear. More recently, VDOT engineers and geologists noticed active movement near the historic slide, and proactively began an emergency rock slope mitigation effort.
