GeoStabilization International (GSI), Access Limited, and RoadGuard together form a leading infrastructure solutions platform dedicated to protecting people and strengthening critical infrastructure across North America and New Zealand.

GSI is the premier geohazard mitigation firm specializing in emergency slope stabilization, landslide repair, grouting, and micropiles through innovative design-build delivery. Access Limited brings over a century of steep-slope expertise and operates North America’s largest fleet of spider excavators, delivering complex rockfall and geotechnical solutions in the most challenging environments. RoadGuard, founded in 2024, unites industry-leading roadway safety companies providing guardrail, bridge railing, highway signage, fencing, and specialty fabrication services.

Across all our businesses, we are driven by innovation, extreme ownership, technical excellence, and a relentless commitment to measurable results that improve safety and infrastructure resilience.

GSI is looking for a Systems Administrator I/II to own the reliability, performance, and security of our on-premises and cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical role, but it's also a proving ground. We are not hiring for adequacy — we are hiring for excellence: candidates with the intellectual horsepower, resilience, and results orientation to take extreme ownership of GSI's systems and scale into senior engineering or IT leadership. Outcomes matter more than hours logged or tickets closed.

Level (I or II) is determined by the candidate's demonstrated experience and technical depth.

Core Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers, virtualization platforms, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure).
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability, and proactively resolve issues before they impact users.
  • Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity/access management systems.
  • Manage system backups; perform regular updates and file/server recovery testing.
  • Apply security patches and best-practice configurations to servers and appliances.
  • Support network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless access points.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for end-user hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and drive opportunities to automate routine administration, monitoring, and support work, including through AI-assisted tools — we expect this role to reduce manual toil over time, not just keep the lights on.
  • Bring a team-based, solutions-first approach to cross-functional problem solving, and exercise strategic judgment under pressure rather than simply escalating.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Hands-on experience administering Windows Servers and cloud environments.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Working experience with Azure, Entra, and Microsoft Exchange.
  • Knowledge of MDM for device management; Microsoft Intune a plus.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls).
  • Understanding of ZTNA for local infrastructure.
  • Understanding of backup/disaster recovery tools and practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and demonstrated ability to work independently under time pressure.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for documentation and end-user support.
  • Willingness to work occasional off-hours for maintenance windows or emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
  • Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell and AI tools).
  • Experience with endpoint management tools (Intune a plus).
  • Exposure to ITSM/ticketing platforms (local and remote support systems).
  • Relevant certifications: CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator.

Technical Environment

  • Operating Systems: Windows Server (2016+), Windows 10/11
  • Virtualization/Cloud: Hyper-V / Azure
  • Directory & Identity: Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID
  • Networking: Aruba switches and access points, Dell and HP servers, FortiGate firewall
  • Backup: Veeam (local NAS and cloud)
  • Ticketing/ITSM: SolarWinds
