Build, Repair, and Maintain Specialized Heavy Equipment

GeoStabilization International (GSI) is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to join our operations team in Oceano, California.

In this hands-on position, you will diagnose, maintain, and repair specialized equipment used on geohazard mitigation and infrastructure projects throughout the country. Our fleet includes walking excavators, traditional excavators, drilling equipment, and other heavy machinery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanic who enjoys solving complex problems, working with specialized equipment, and seeing the direct impact of their work.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, diesel-engine, and electrical issues

• Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, oil changes, and tune-ups

• Repair or replace faulty parts and components

• Complete major repairs and equipment overhauls when necessary

• Conduct preventive maintenance to improve reliability and minimize downtime

• Read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics

• Use diagnostic tools to identify equipment problems

• Maintain accurate service and repair records

• Communicate equipment status and repair needs to team members

• Follow company safety procedures and maintain an organized work area

What We’re Looking For

• At least five years of heavy-equipment maintenance and repair experience

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems

• Experience diagnosing and repairing excavators, drills, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, mining equipment, or similar machinery

• Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment

• Ability to read manuals, electrical diagrams, and hydraulic schematics

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively with a team

• Valid driver’s license preferred

Experience with walking excavators or drilling equipment is helpful but not required. Candidates with transferable experience from construction, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, or equipment dealerships are encouraged to apply.

Physical and Work Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform hands-on mechanical work for extended periods

• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and machinery

• Ability to work in a shop environment with varying temperatures

• Willingness to wear all required personal protective equipment
