Access Limited brings over a century of steep-slope expertise and operates North America’s largest fleet of spider excavators, delivering complex rockfall and geotechnical solutions in the most challenging environments. RoadGuard, founded in 2024, unites industry-leading roadway safety companies providing guardrail, bridge railing, highway signage, fencing, and specialty fabrication services.
Across all our businesses, we are driven by innovation, extreme ownership, technical excellence, and a relentless commitment to measurable results that improve safety and infrastructure resilience.
The Opportunity
This is not a paper-processing role. This is a critical function that sits at the intersection of workforce protection, operational continuity, and organizational risk management. The person we hire will serve as the backbone of GSI's occupational health claims infrastructure — managing workplace injury claims, vehicle damage claims, and associated organizational claims from first notice through closure.
You will be trusted with sensitive information, complex coordination across multiple stakeholders, and decisions that directly affect the lives of our field teams. We need someone who takes that weight seriously — and who performs at their best precisely because the stakes are high.
If you are looking for a role where activity passes for achievement, this isn't it. If you want to build something, drive measurable outcomes, and grow into broader leadership responsibility, read on.
What You'll Own
Workplace Injury & Claims Management
- Lead all Workers' Compensation claims from initial notification through closure — ensuring accuracy, compliance, and speed across all applicable jurisdictions
- Serve as the primary liaison between injured workers, field supervisors, insurance carriers, healthcare providers, and regulatory agencies
- Drive return-to-work and modified duty programs in close collaboration with operations and field leadership
- Monitor claim trajectory, proactively identify cost and duration reduction opportunities, and implement solutions — not recommendations that sit in inboxes
- Conduct and support incident investigations and root cause analyses; translate findings into prevention strategies with real operational impact
Vehicle & Fleet Claims
- Manage the full lifecycle of company vehicle damage claims — collision, theft, vandalism, property damage
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, repair facilities, and fleet operations to minimize downtime and total cost
- Ensure thorough documentation, investigation, and reporting on every incident
Analytics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Build and maintain claims tracking systems and databases that give leadership real-time visibility
- Develop meaningful metrics — not vanity stats — that illuminate trends, risks, and performance
- Present regular reports to leadership with actionable insights, not just summaries
- Support KPI development tied to safety performance and organizational risk reduction
Compliance & Culture
- Ensure full compliance with Workers' Compensation legislation, privacy law, occupational health and safety regulations, and company policy across all relevant jurisdictions
- Champion a return-to-work culture grounded in genuine care for injured employees and disciplined case management
- Contribute to the development of occupational health standards and best practices that scale with the business
What You Bring
Required
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in workplace injury claims management, disability management, or occupational health program administration
- Demonstrated experience working directly with Workers' Compensation Boards and insurance claims processes across multiple jurisdictions
- Deep fluency in occupational health and safety legislation and return-to-work frameworks
- A track record of measurable outcomes: reduced claim duration, lower costs, improved return-to-work rates — with numbers to back it up
- Exceptional organizational capability — you manage complexity without losing precision
- Communication skills that work equally well in a difficult conversation with an injured worker and a strategic briefing with the VP of Operations
- Post-secondary education in Disability Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, Human Resources, Wellness, or a related field
Strongly Preferred
- Experience managing vehicle or fleet-related claims
- Exposure to a field-operations or construction/infrastructure environment
- Familiarity with multi-province or multi-state claims environments
