As part of the competition, industry professionals are asked to vote for the winner and voting closes at 12PM EST Friday, September 28. Please take a minute to vote for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.org.uk\/what-is-civil-engineering\/what-do-civil-engineers-do\/moving-mountains-to-reconnect-communities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moving mountains to reconnect communities (Kaikoura, New Zealand).<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The project involved the restoration of the main transportation artery links on the South Island of New Zealand following the 7.8 Magnitude Kaikoura Earthquake of November 2016. HGS led a major part of this NZ$1.1 Billion effort by stabilizing the rock faces at Ohau Point with a combination of rock scaling, rock bolts, and high-strength wire mesh and ring nets.
