Gonowabie Road is a historic logging road now serving vacationers and homeowners who enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Crystal Bay in Lake Tahoe. One lane road width, discerning esthetic requirements tight environment regulations and one – way traffic made this project particularly difficult. The project required the installation of a sculpted and stained soil nail wall. GSI® received high marks from both the owner (Washoe County, NV) and local residences for high quality work. The final sculpted and stained shotcrete façade masterfully matched the existing granite outcroppings in the area.
A rockfall barrier, previously installed in a remote place above a major highway in the mountains of Colorado, had been repeatedly impacted and the state department of transportation was uncertain of its remaining functionality.
